After the introduction of girls baseball in 2021, we have had several successful seasons since and look forward to continue building this program!
BMBA continues to focus on recruiting girls from our community, as well as recruiting and educating coaches and umpires involved in the girls program.
Our hope is to have at least one all girls team within as many divisions as we can.
Our belief is that ALL girls who want to play baseball should be able to. We know that girls face enough barriers to joining sports - especially male-dominated sports like baseball - and we want to break down as many barriers to participation as possible.

Initiated as a pilot project in 2023, Beaumont and three other communities were invited to participate in the Baseball Alberta Girls League (BAGL) at the 9U and 11U age levels. Following the success of its inaugural season, BAGL's 2024 season also included the 14U age group and welcomed additional communities. BMBA is very proud to say that Beaumont led the number of teams participating in BAGL having teams in all age groups, and with 2 teams at 12U!
With the continuing growth of BAGL, our goal for 2025 is for BMBA's all-girls teams to participate exclusively in BAGL. Structuring of BAGL is similar to AA Leagues with communities hosting 2-3 teams, playing 2 games on game day. League games are scheduled by Baseball Alberta. While Baseball Alberta does its best to reduce travel, this is dependent on the number of teams participating and their locations within the province.
BMBA is very excited about the upcoming 2025 season with continued commitment to create an inclusive and safe environment, increase awareness of girls baseball in the community, foster player development, get more girls on the field and most importantly, have fun.

The Canada Summer Games Committee has included Women’s Baseball (16U) as one of the sports that will be part of the next Games (held in Newfoundland/Labrador).
This is extremely exciting news for female baseball and will greatly assist in the growth of the game! Being part of the Games experience is life altering for an athlete. Canada is the only country in the world that hosts a national multi-sport amateur event! Think "Olympics", only instead of competing against other countries, athletes are competing against other provinces.
Not only will selected 16U female athletes (those born in 2009 and later) be able to participate in the Games, female coaches and female umpires will also be required.
To ensure Alberta has fully certified female coaches to fulfill the positions available, interested coaches need to complete their NCCP certification. And it takes a bit of time.
Following is the link to review the NCCP requirements and further information: NCCP requirements
