Competitive Baseball Program Overview - Black Gold 47's

If trying out for a Competitive Tier that Beaumont does not have, i.e. Beaumont did not have any AAA last year, please register (free of charge) on our website first and then register with another association second. Select the appropriate Division, and choose the Division (13AAA,15AAA,18AAA) Tryout package. This will allow us to release player if successful at tryouts and will also hold a spot for player within our association.
In 2021 BMBA and LBA merged their competitive baseball programs under the Black Gold 47's moniker. This partnership was developed to not only provide our athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest levels of the Baseball Alberta Competitive Program but to also bring athletes and families in our region closer together.
The 47's strive to field a minimum of 3 rosters at each age level (11U to 18U). Initially the 47's hosted teams at only AA but due to our past success we have been integrated into the AAA and Baseball Alberta Elite League (BAEL) leagues at all applicable age levels.
BAPL AA League
The 47's will look to roster 2-3 teams at the AA level on our Gold, Black and White rosters for each age level. Competition is still high but our AA program also has a heavy focus on long term athletic development. For 11U AA we accept players of all skill and experience ranges due to our ability to place teams at various tiering, allowing players to play with other kids of similar skill which maintains appropriate competition.
These teams will compete for spots in Division 1 (Tier 1-3) or Division 2 (Tier 4-6) of the BAPL league. The 47's will evaluate teams in March and will host indoor spring training in April. The season starts in May and will run until the end of July. Teams will practice 3 nights per week typically on Tuesday and Thursdays with an added batting cage night on Monday or Wednesdays.
Any player that doesn't successfully make a AA roster is still able to play under BMBA YEGA or CUB league rosters!
BAPL AAA / BAEL League
The 47's will host 1 AAA roster at 13U, 15U and 18U who will play in either Tier 1 or Tier 2 of the BAPL AAA league. The 47's will evaluate members for these rosters in late February and early March. Teams will be assigned indoor spring training time in March and April along with a dedicated strength and conditioning program hosted by AK Performance 1-2 times per week. The season for AAA / BAEL will open in late April and run until August long weekend. Teams at the AAA level will play 4 game series each weekend as well as participate in 2-4 tournament weekends resulting in 50-60 games per season. Teams will practice 3 nights per week typically Tuesday and Thursday on field and 1 night of either batting cage or indoor training. The strength and conditioning program for in season training will continue typically 1-2 day during the week with a heavy focus on arm care, conditioning, mobility and recovery.
Any player that doesn't successfully make a AAA / BAEL roster is eligible to tryout for other programs for AAA baseball or they can compete for a roster spot on a 47's AA roster or return to BMBA community program.
High Performance Program
The 47's also offer a year round high performance program with full access to pitching and hitting coordinators. Our high performance program offers Fall baseball games and development as well as indoor winter training spanning 16 weeks which ends just before evaluations.
The 47's also offer a reduced commitment program in the off season for our multi sport athletes called our Flex Program.
Mental Skills Training
Throughout the year all of our players get access to our mental skills coach Erin Brennan. Erin works with our athletes to help build self confidence, emotional awareness and focus skills to help them become better athletes, team mates and overall people.
